Mission
Somali Diaspora Network (SDN) is a grass-roots organization committed to advocate and lobby on critical policy matters pertaining to Somali-American interest and issues of concerns through communication and information sharing, raising public awareness, and educating the public and government officials.
Goals:
Effectively communicate with U.S congress, administration, media, educators, policy analysts, other organizations, and the public through timely information, briefings, press releases and conferences, forums, seminars, action alerts and other similar means;
- Foster and promote a more balanced and fair United States government policy toward the Horn of Africa;
- Cultivate U.S/Somalia relationship based upon on freedom, democracy, human rights, the rule of law, good governance, and economic development;
- Protect and advance the rights of people of Somali descent and nurtures positive image and identity;
- Promote Somali people’s rich cultural heritage through community activities and outreach programs;
- Develop, support, engage, and inspire good governance and leadership to the betterment of Somali people;
- Seek to achieve full and genuine participation by all Somalis in the political, social, and economics processes and development;
- Organize Somali Diaspora Communities in order to contribute to the welfare of their communities and to assist Somalia to becoming stable, peaceful and prosperous nation for all Somalis;
Coordinate and work with other organizations and prominent individuals on issues of common concern and interest.
